Dr. Carissa Smullen (Dr. Cara) graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in Scotland in 2010.  She has been working as a small animal practitioner in general practice since 2010.  A few years ago, she worked at an integrative practice where she developed an interest in acupuncture and other alternative therapies.  She studied acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida and received her certification in 2014.  She also received her food therapy certification in 2016.

She also began to realize the need for visiting pets in their own homes.  Some pets can be nervous or anxious at a veterinary hospital.  When performing acupuncture, it is best for the patients to be relaxed and calm.  The stress and nervousness they may experience at the vet hospital can hinder the positive results seen from acupuncture.   As a result, Dr. Cara has started this house call business to bring these services to your pet.

Dr. Cara lives in Auburn, NH with her husband Jonathan, their crazy cats Stjӓrna, Aramis, Chiana, and their dogs, Leia and Dubh Croí (Dewey).  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, and painting or drawing.
